CINCINNATI – After nine months, three holes punched through 12 inches of bricks and just over $1.6 million in investment, Park West in Over-the-Rhine is finished.
Grandin Properties unveiled the development Oct. 28 with a champagne toast and doughnuts from Holtman’s Donut Shop, just days before the first residents of Park West move into their new apartments.
The developer restored two historic buildings near the corner of 13th and Race streets and connected them to create Park West.
“Grandin connected the two into a single, 11-unit apartment complex and marked the door with sunshine yellow, turning decades of decline and despair into sparkling new spaces overlooking Washington Park,” Grandin CEO Peg Wyant said just before a ribbon cutting for the project.
Four of the apartments already have been leased, with residents scheduled to move in starting Nov. 1, said Kathy Meier, a consultant for special projects at Grandin.
To give the public a better idea of what it takes to bring historic buildings back to life, Grandin gave WCPO exclusive access to the Park West project from start to finish to document the work involved.
